The Gorilla Space at Barcelona Zoo was opened on 1 May 2003. It is a permanent exhibition intended to inform visitors about the world of gorillas, a species that shares around 98% of its DNA with humans and which is in imminent danger of disappearing. It also explains how zoos can contribute towards preventing extinction and how, together, we can all avoid having to live in a world without gorillas. Of course, Snowflake (his life, images from all periods...) occupies an important place in the exhibition.

As well as being an educational tool and raising social awareness of gorillas, the Gorilla Area is a symbol of the Zoo's commitment to their conservation and that of all species.
